Daily Devotional Entry#112
Scandalous Forgiveness- “Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent, ‘ forgive him.”- Luke 17:3-4 (NASB)
Q & A?:
Who do you need to forgive in your life? Is God asking you to remove yourself from harm?
My answer:
As I sit with this, certain memories surface, carrying a quiet ache. Forgiveness feels like a path to peace, a release for my own heart.
And then, the soft question: Am I being called to step away from what harms me? Forgiveness is inner work, but protecting myself feels like a loving act too.
Are there places or people that consistently bring me down? If I'm honest, maybe. Patterns that hurt or ignore my boundaries.
I feel a gentle nudge to be kind to myself. Forgiving doesn't mean staying where I'm wounded. Sometimes, love means creating space for healing.
Perhaps the message is simple: forgive, yes, but also be gentle with my own spirit. Know when to mend and when to seek peace elsewhere.
Today, I reflect quietly. The way forward feels like both: letting go through forgiveness and choosing what nurtures my well-being. May I have wisdom and courage for both.
(A quiet thought: Forgive, yes, but also be wise about where I plant my feet.)
Gentle God, as I hold these questions of forgiveness and protection in my heart, I ask for your quiet guidance. Help me to extend grace where it is needed, releasing the burdens of past hurts. And grant me the wisdom to discern when I need to create space for my own well-being, to step away from what diminishes my spirit. May I walk forward with a heart that is both forgiving and gently guarded, always seeking your peace. Amen.
