Fresh & New- “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5: 17 (NKJV)

How do you feel when you think of God’s love washing over you and making you new?
My answer:
When I ponder 2 Corinthians 5:17, my heart just swells with a sense of LIBERATION. The idea of being a "new creation" isn't just some theological concept for me; it's a living, breathing experience. It's like shedding layers of what no longer serves me, or perhaps, what never truly belonged to me in the first place.
Thinking about God's love washing over me and making me new... it's a feeling of profound relief, first and foremost. It's the gentle current that sweeps away the doubts, the anxieties, the past mistakes that sometimes cling to me like spiritual dust. I remember a time when I was grappling with a past regret, feeling it hold me back like a heavy stone. But through prayer and seeking His face, there was a quiet, powerful moment where I truly felt a wave of His forgiveness wash over me. It was a tangible release, and I knew "old things passed away."
It’s more than just a washing away, though; it’s an infusion. His love pours into every crevice of my being, revitalizing and renewing from the inside out. There was also a season where I felt quite stuck and hopeless about a certain situation, consumed by negativity. Yet, as I leaned into God, surrendering my fears, His love gently rearranged my perspective, helping me see opportunities where I only saw obstacles. It made everything new in how I approached challenges. And later, when I felt a bit adrift, unsure of my next steps in life, it was in seeking Him that I felt His love nudging me towards a new path, a new area of purpose. This wasn't about erasing my past, but rather integrating it into a fresh, vibrant future.
There's a lightness that comes with this feeling, a renewed sense of purpose and possibility. It's like taking a deep, cleansing breath after holding it for too long. The "old things passing away" doesn't feel like a loss, but rather a graceful letting go, making space for something infinitely more beautiful and aligned with who I'm truly meant to be. And the "behold, all things have become new" isn't just about a future promise; it's a present reality that I can tap into right now, in this very moment. It's seeing the world with fresh eyes, and more importantly, seeing myself with a heart full of grace and acceptance, knowing that I am truly loved and continually being made new by a boundless, unwavering love.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your boundless love that washes over us, cleansing and making us new. We are so grateful that in Christ, we are new creations, leaving the old behind and embracing the fresh hope You offer. Help us to always remember this profound truth, especially in moments when old doubts or fears try to cling to us. Fill us with Your Spirit, so that we may walk in the newness of life You've given us, reflecting Your grace and purpose in all we do. May Your love continue to transform us, making all things truly new, each and every day.
